Fight Gone Bad

Well, I'm sick again. I don't think I've ever had so many colds in my life as I have in the last few months. Here's my theory: I worked at home, isolated from all of humanity, for 6 winters. This year I'm back in the office dealing with germs of all kinds. I'm just not used to it, I guess.

I had a double planned today -- run at lunch, Crossfit after work. I was almost stupid enough to do it but I knew it wouldn't be the smartest thing. So I didn't run but I did go to Crossfit. I can still run the rest of the week but I really want to get in the routine of Monday, Wednesday, Friday at CF since this is my first official week.

Our workout tonight was "Fight Gone Bad." It was a killer. First, the usual tough warmup. Then the workout was:

Wall balls (1 minute)
Sumo deadlift high pull (1 minute)
Box jumps (1 minute)
Clean and press (1 minute)
Rowing (1 minute)

Then a minute rest, then the cycle twice more. It's only a total of 15 actual minutes working out but JEEBUS it's hard! I'm sore all over and usually that doesn't hit me until the next day. It also could be because I'm sick but it was still a hell of a workout. We'll do this one again at the end of the 6 weeks to see if our score improved (I got 216 points tonight). In addition to getting more reps in I also hope to improve on strength and go heavier on the weights. I can also go higher on the box jumps (I started at the baby height) but there were some people doing 24" box jumps! There's always ways to improve and that's what I like about CF.

I'm glad I went. I've spent my life making excuses about fitness and health. I wasn't coughing so I felt like I was good from a respiratory standpoint. I have a sore throat, a headache, a runny nose, hardly cause to crawl into bed and give up on everything. The more in touch with my health and body I get the more I know my limits. I was able to work out tonight and I'm glad. If I was really sick then I wouldn't.

I hope to run tomorrow, I have no mileage so far for this week and I don't like that. My snail (her name is Gail, btw) got a nice jump on Sunday but she's been idling since. Gotta change that.
