Because I overslept today I had to run after work. I really wish I hadn't slept in because it was drizzling this morning and I think I would have liked it that compared to 85 degrees and full sun like it was at 5 pm. I didn't really eat today because of the dentist appointment and I didn't drink much either because of the novocaine (Bill Cosby, anyone?) so I wasn't feeling my best when I headed out.
It got done though, 4.42 miles, up hills, down hills, in the blazing sun. I don't know what it was but I could not pick my feet up today. Even on the downhills I felt like they were dragging. I know there's a ton of exercises to help with foot turnover, I think I might have to check them out. When I can't get my feet up I tend to slouch over which makes me even slower. I want to run tall and strong, especially on these shorter runs. Even though I struggled my overall pace was 10:59/mile. Slower than what I've been doing but given the conditions I'm okay with it.
And the worst part of the run? When I got back and was dying of thirst I couldn't chug anything because the freaking novocaine hadn't worn off yet. I'm taking teeny tiny baby sips and withering in the process. Ugh.
