Vacation was great but there's nothing worse than that realization that after the laundry gets done it's back to regular life. I've successfully put work out of my mind until later today when I get my clothes ready for tomorrow. It's going to be a crappy week -- I have a meeting in NYC Friday and Saturday so I'm going to have to do my long run on Sunday which I hate doing. I like getting it over with on Saturday. Plus I'll be tired from the meeting. I can't dwell on that now though. I still have a beautiful Sunday ahead of me.
It was a good weekend for running. Yesterday I did 10.04 miles on the trail. My pace was a few seconds faster than my 8-miler last week so that's good. I love looking at a visual of my run, especially that altitude. There's times when I'm running and I feel like I'm running up a mountain but it's more like a speed bump. This really is a mountain! My pace (the blue) looks like an EKG. Those spikes are my timed water breaks.

I like looking at my splits too, I'm liking what I see from miles 4-8. I'm improving. I'll never be fast but I'm okay with that.

Today I did the treadmill for an hour and did pretty well, I got in 5.57 miles at a 10:40 pace. That sounds about right since the treadmill is easier than running outside so I should be a little faster. It's all building blocks anyway. A faster treadmill workout might help my outside pace by a few seconds -- a faster outside run will make me stronger on the treadmill.
My total mileage for the week was 24.81. Official training called for 16 so I'm happy with that. Hopefully I'll stay ahead of the schedule for another 4 weeks but after that I'll just be happy to keep up.
This heat wave needs to end. It's seriously too much.
